Ok, ive taken the motor out and apart,68 650 bonnie, found a good british bike machinist, while taking apart i found that the clutch cable thread going into gearbox cover is striped, is there a heli coil option for this or do i need to replace cover? if so size? thanks

It's not critical to have it threaded as you can simply adjust the length of the cable in other places/ways. But you can use a helicoil if you really want to. I'm sorry, I don't know the exact size off the top of my head. Just take the cable end with you when you get the helicoil.

The Seeker is correct, just clean up whatever remnants of threads are still intact and perhaps apply a dab of JB Weld before re-inserting the abutment.

Once it's in place, it isn't going anywhere, being captive by the cable itself. remember to use a rubber boot to keep out moisture.
