This is absolutely true.
When I'm pistol shooting (NRA target style) I wear a patch on my prescription glasses over my dominant eye which has a small hole - aperature.
This causes my eye to focus sharper on the gun sights and this is something shooters have been doing for years.
You can buy expensive shooting glasses that have a solid patch over the other eye and an adjustable aperature for the dominant eye.
Several guys in my gun club who are serious shooters have them.
But the funny thing is, I recently found a pair of prescription glasses I wore maybe ten years ago at the bottom of my gun box and put them on at the range.
I couldn't believe how well I could see the sights (not much else) so use them now most of the time. The lenses are the old fashioned large ones and offer better eye protection.
They're good enough for arms length, but not much else.

I am amazed at how well that trick worked for my right in which my vision is distorted because I am looking through the oil bubble.
