A mid-winter holiday long weekend was something being called for so they came up with this and Monday is a holiday for us.
To this retired old fart, every weekend is a long weekend

Rocky, we don't get that holiday yet. Too new to be implemented into our contract. Call it 'Family Day' in our province. Most others get it off.

Oddly enough, this holiday is called other names in other provinces.
In this province it's called Heritage Day.

An Arctic freight train has come down over much of the country with brutal temps this morning.
It's -15C (4F) here - the coldest night of the winter so far, but at least it's sunny

Whoever came up with this family day should have been ... well you know what I mean . Now that I’m retired who cares but when I was working If it was during our short summer I could have gotten out for a blast or 18 holes . Am sure who ever came up with it was a civil servant who went to Florida every winter and this allowed him to stay an extra day. without predjustice of course. Brooke
