For those of you in Canada, Happy third First :ya2:......Please drive defensively this weekend. I plan on a short ride with the mrs Friday and then puttng the bike in the garage.... :y18:.

Happy 4th July to all my American friends. On 4 July 2008, I was on Machu Picchu in Peru with three Americans on the tour with me.
The following day I took a nosedive into a Peruvian ditch and did myself bodily harm :y30: :y30:
Yesterday, 1 July, was Canada Day and the 142nd birthday of our fair country. I was busy on a club run and BBQ and getting it organized so forgot to mention it here.
In spite of wet conditions 14 bikes showed up for the run with 5 more showing up later.

I had an exhilarating ride last evening on my way to and from bike night. It literally pour down rain. The Harley crowd was nowhere to be found.....I'm not sure if they are allergic to water or just hate polishing all that chrome?

I donned my rain gear and took-off regardless of the weather - loved every second of it. There's something cool about being all alone in the rain with your bike, the howl of your Staintunes, and looking in the rearview mirrors at that huge rooster tail behind you while you slice through the standing water at 75 MPH.

We are too smart to ride in rain

I'm seriously thinking it's the "allergic to water" thing since it doesn't look they take many baths or showers.....LOL

If I didn't ride in the rain, I would not ride most of the year. If you ride in Florida in the summer, sooner or later, you will get wet. Most of the time I don't even put my rain gear on.

I do hate to start out in the rain and if I know it will be be raining most of the day, I will take the cage. But all day rains are pretty scarce here. If I am on a trip and it is raining when I am ready to leave, I just put the gear on the gear and head out. On trips I have ridden most of the day in the rain.

I don't let some water stop me as long as it's not cold at the same time. COLD and wet is not something I enjoy.

I have nice new Avons which stick like magnets...so much so that I'm always surprised at just how much grip I actually have (I usually test the grip when I'm out in it).

Bummer though that I found a small nail stuck into my brand new rear tire when I cam home the other night. I'm resisting the urge to pull it out to see if it's gone all the way through the tire or not. It is holding air right now without any loss.

We did have a great day. We continued the PGR welcome home mission for the 715th Military Police Company. One of the soldier's mom threw a good old fashioned, country barbecue party for him and four of his friends. She had a live band, food and plenty of that cold, wet stuff plus fireworks. The food was great, the company outstanding, and we got to spend time getting to know four fine young men and one fine young lady. Mae Lyne gave rides to the kids in her sidecar. She was a big hit.

It was an outstanding way to celebrate our nation's independence.

Carl,

This heat is killing me...Thanks for supporting our boys and girls :y18: I heard over the weekend that a doctor in his 70's was called up. This was on a reputable news source :oh:

Just getting a little off the original thread, but still with Triumph M/C stuff "a doctor in his 70's called up"?, ....

I hope the 70 year old doctor is up to it, he may have to run north of the border for 20 years or so before an amnesty allows him to come home again.

For this doctor to have been called up, he had to have been prior service - at least in the reserves. At his age, the recall would be voluntary.
