With all that has been going on in the extended family and the extra hours I've been working since returning from Colorado (and the coming even heavier work schedule), Kim and I got out of town over the weekend to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We waited until the last minute to decide where we were going and to make our reservations. New Orleans was our decided upon destination. The destination seemed right since we spent the first few days of our honeymoon trip in New Orleans.

I won't bore you with all the details of the trip. :whistle2: But will add a few photos. :D

Because they had screwed up our reservation and made us wait to get our room ready, the hotel comp'd our breakfast the next morning. Our waitress asked if we were in town for the game, Tampa Bay was in town to play the Saints. I told her no, we were here to celebrate our 30th anniversary. When we got back to the room Saturday evening, this is what we found.

The above museum photos were taken in the "U.S. Freedom Pavilion, The Boeing Center" There is currently 4 buildings with displays open to the public. They will begin a 5th building scheduled for opening in 2016. We began our tour with the film narrated by Tom Hanks, it was a really well put together film that crammed the entire war into a short film. I'm not sure what the length of the film was but it was around 30 minutes.

Our last stop was in the main entrance. We had entered the main entrance to get our tickets but due to the long line one of the volunteers directed us to the theater building to purchase the tickets. If anyone should visit, I suggest if you did as we did, watch the film and then begin your visit at the main entrance.

While we were in the area we decided to look for a piece of property for the next Casa Hemibee. . . I think we mighthave decided on a small place for our retirement home, a cane plantation. :y2:

We spent one night of our honeymoon in the kitchen/slave quarters of a Mississippi plantation so we continued to follow some of the same with a visit to one of the more famous Louisiana plantations. No overnight this time.

A little of the old with a little of the new. . . Old plantation bell had many functions. It was used to alert the plantations slaves as an alarm clock, a call to meals, start of the work day, end of the work day, alert of high importance messages and used to alert other plantations of help needed (early 911). And the new. . . AIR CONDITIONERS!!!

Holy cow you did that lot over the weekend, did you slow down time ? That would be a holiday to some people. As for the museum, well that's what you call a museum. It looks massive, you sure pulled out all the stops out for a memorable and, I hope, a wonderful 30th wedding anniversary for you both. I hope that the hotel staff sprinkled sugar over them strawberry's, they did look rather nice.
