My first bike back in January 1961 in UK, was a Triumph Tiger Cub Trials, followed by a Triumph 21 (bathtub). After spending several years at sea with P&O & then 6 years working on the Copper Mines in Zambia, I returned to UK (The New Forest in Hampshire), where I bought a 1971 Triumph Saint (ex police bike) off of a friend. That was in the early 1980's, I still have the bike, its with me here in WA, where I have refurbished it as a Trophy TR6 (P), with fairing off but having kept it. I painted it with Bonnie colours, as I always dreamed of owning a Bonnie. My dream came true a three years ago when I bought a nearly new Bonnie T100 (5000km). I was also very naughty & deviated from the Triumph theme & bought a 1969 BSA Lightning 650, another bike I always admired as a youngster.
It was in March 2016 that I had three mates coming over from the USA (North Carolina & Florida) for a motorcycling tour of WA, this gave me the excuse to buy 1997 Triumph Trophy 1200, which had come up. We took all four bikes on a 2800km excursion without a brake-down, who said Triumph's are unreliable! The Saint has not had a single thing done to the engine to my knowledge since its police days (I understand they downgraded the engines when selling them off?). Love all my bikes but love the Bonnie (Rego Clyde) the best!
