New to the forum and, for all intents and purposes, motocycling. I rode a friends 650 Yamaha when I was a navy Seabee forty five years ago. Back then it was "Here's the key. Have fun." There were no MSF, insurance or helmet requirements; learned the basic skills driving around the base and in the smoggy Los Angeles traffic. Now, semi-retired, I decided to get a bike and took the MSF using a Harley Street Twin and then found an impeccibly maintained 2016 Triumph America in June. I always liked the classic look and the sound of British twins. I've put on 800 miles on it since. A five mile trip to the store in the car that took around a half hour now takes at least twenty miles and about an hour on the bike. Same store. I enjoy digging into motorcycling as a subject and like to wrench on things. There's plenty of new twists on physics and mechanical skills to look into as well as the practice-makes-perfect dimension associated with safe riding. It keeps me plenty busy.
