The P-51 Mustang is one of my favorite aircraft. This film is rather long; but be sure to watch it to the end. It is a tribute to the Mustang, the men who flew them and the Greatest Generation. The story is great.

Filmmaker and P-51 Mustang Pilot Chris Woods has put together a wonderful film that captures the emotional reunion between a humble WWII Mustang ace (Jim Brooks) and the historic plane he thought he'd never see again.

Inspired by the flood of memories triggered by this unimaginable encounter with a long lost friend, the 88-year old pilot finally breaks his silence, sharing his stories and experiences of war with the grandchildren who never thought they'd hear them.

For some reason, a couple of the photos didn't cross-link so I fixed that above.

Another WWII favorite of mine is the F4U-Corsair (awesome gull-wings):

Most people think the gull wings had something to do with performance/aerodynamics. But the truth is that the propeller was so huge that the gull wings were made so that the landing gear would extend low enough to prevent the prop from hitting the deck.

The P-47 Thunderbolt had the same problem. They finally installed telescoping land gear that when extended the prop would clear and when collapsed the wing was low enough to service the guns.

thanks Carl

the film was a beaut.

you know as a modeler i've built many versions of the Mustang and have hundreds of books, plans and previews on them. my fave is the P51 A model.
