OK this might be in the wrong section. If you use Garmin Basecamp you might find this helpful.

I don't know if this will be of any use to users of Garmin's Basecamp, I have certainly found it very useful, knowing how crap the search engine is, and the not too easy to use Basecamp, in general.
If you want to find a place in Basecamp, it's not the easiest thing to do, however the other week I stumbled across a tutorial about Basecamp, and in this tutorial there's a dead easy way to find a place, using Google maps.
All you do to locate the place that you're having trouble finding in Basecamp is to go to Google maps, zoom in to the place you want to go to, or waypoint, and then right click the mouse. A box pops up and you'll see multiple digits. Now move the cursor to the digits and the left click the mouse, you'll see at the bottom of the the maps " Copied to clipboard ". Now go to the search bar on Google maps and right click and paste in the box the numbers you copied. Lots of numbers pop up, then push enter, and another box pops up with more numbers. You need to highlight and copy the lesser amount of numbers.
Once you have copied these numbers, move over to Basecamp then right click ( it doesn't matter where on the map that you do this ) a new waypoint sign comes up, then you click on the waypoint, that will more likely be in your list, and the familiar box pops up with lots of numbers. Highlight them numbers and paste the small numbers that you copied, then close the box. The waypoint has now gone to the exact location that you saw it in Google maps .
I know that the above sounds long winded,

and they're far easier ways to find places by just using MyRouteApp, and tyre. But once you've done it a few times, it's really simple. I don't mind using Basecamp, and I thought that I'd share this with you.
Give it a go, you've nothing to loose, and it won't cost you a penny.
I couldn't for the life of me understand Basecamp, it was a total mystery to me, however during our last lockdown I found this guys videos, and to be honest I think you'll be hard pushed to find a better or clearer tutorial anywhere on the internet. I followed this guys advice to the letter, and having watched all his video's Basecamp no longer causes me to want to lob the computer out of the window.

Carl, stick with easymoto Tim, I like you thought Basecamp was just impossible to grasp, no matter what I did, I just couldn't figure it out.
I bought the new Garmin XT, and came to the conclusion that to be able to get the best out of this very impressive sat nav, I had better knuckle down and learn all about Basecamp, and how to use it. I looked at various tutorials on the web, and I can honestly say that easymoto Tim, was and in my opinion is, the best out there. I went slow over the week and by the end of it I'd cracked Basecamp. I never thought in a million years I'd have said that before looking at his tutorials. I was watching another tutorial the other week about Basecamp and how to use it, and in this tutorial this chap was saying that you can't do this, and you can't do that with Basecamp, and there's me saying, "Oh yes you can".
Hope it all works out for you.

This is how far I've come with Basecamp.
Below is the route I did when I went to Orkney, and other places in Scotland too.

So Carl believe me when I say, if I can do Basecamp, then anyone can do it.

I have an old Garmin handheld device, is basecamp something that can be added to older Garmins? I’ll have to dig it up and see if I can figure out what my device is capable of. Is Basecamp a program available in all regions?

Basecamp is a programme that stays on your computer, and is worldwide. You don't need an internet connection to access it, it's always there when you need it. To answer your question I think it's best you give them a ring

Stick with it Hemi, pull up with a pint of Texas finest and follow his instructions to the letter, and you will get it. I followed his instructions excactly as he did on his video's, and I got it. One advantage Basecamp has over Google maps is that if your doing a route that Google considers the route closed due to snow ( Not much chance of that too often in the LS State ) Google won't let you plan that route the way you want too, however Basecamp will, so there's good points and bad points in both.
If after you've followed his instructions and still want to lob the computer out of the window give this next one a try. I'll admit next to Basecamp this is dead easy. I only have the basic membership, but find it more than enough for me. Like MotoTim, look at all the videos, and you'll be fine with it too.

Kim said to tell you and Pat, Howdy! . . . Well actually she said regards to the two of you.

I think I've found one of my issues. . . My GPS is giving up the ghost and will need to be replaced. We were in North Carolina the first of this week and my GPS was going stupid. It kept getting worse and then when we got back to Texas Kim noticed what I had been talking about.

I just located my next GPS, Garmin zumo 396 LMT-S Motorcycle GPS. Now I have to wait till Christmas to get it and if it ain't under the tree, I'll order it myself Christmas Day. Gives me plenty time to get used to Basecamp again.

If you've not bought anything yet spend the extra $$$, and go for the new Zumo XT, believe me Hemi, its brilliant. I also have the 345LM, and the XT is on another level in relation to the 345LM. You won't regret it. It's that good.

The XT was on my short list but lost to the 396 LMT mostly, believe it or not, for the smaller screen size as the smaller screen works better for my truck and bike. I'll be adding a new back-up camera and monitor to my truck next year and have to fit it all with Ham radio equipment.

So you're both becoming Gypsies then ROTFL

I was saying to Pat this morning, it's hard to believe that it was over 4 years ago now that you, Kim, Adrian, Pat and me all met up at the Ace Café in Orlando. We were planning to do Sturgis for the 80th, but thanks to Covid, that didn't happen. Still hopefully one day soon. I've even thought about doing route 66 with a company. At the moment everything is up in the air, so to speak.

For 2 years now, I've not been out of the UK, that's never happened since 1979. :y47:.

Yep. . . Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves :ROFLMAO: Years ago, maybe 31 years ago, we looked at them but never really talked serious about them. I was looking at setting my utility trailer up with a roof top tent and a few bits to make it ready for me and Jessica to go places and ride. A few months ago Kim starting talking about an trailer and she wants to go to the 2022 Houston RV show so she can see several in one location that meets her and my demands. Right now I've got my list narrowed down to 2, possibly 3 trailers. The front runner is the 19FBS which is within my weight requirement and has what she wants.

I want to do Route 66 some day, I've done part of it. That 4 years went by WAY too fast and a whole lot went on around here since then.
