Just heard an ad on the radio that if you purchase a new Hummer they will give you a free Harley. Boy sales must really be bad for them to do this. I know that we are in a serious sate as far as our new cars sales go and he industry is really in bad shape

Dave dear, I keep telling you to get out more often. That special's been runnning for about a month. I've had to buy a new car (burns my *ss to do this) and I told Farside that I'm buying a small Humvee so that I can get a Harley too. He told me that he'd had the locks to gate, garage and house changed and that I'd have to park both at least 3 blocks from the house! So I got a Chevy instead.

New car sales are in the tank here in the US. In the greater Orlando area, five major BIG dealerships have closed: two Chevrolet, two Buick/Pontiac/GMC, one Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep.

In these ever getting tougher times it should be the other way around - buy a Harley and get a free Hummer - as if anyone would really want one of those ugly things.
But beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose.

On Sky news this morning they had GM and (some other big company not sure what one) trying to get a bailout plan from congress as well by the looks of it. Things are not looking bright at all.

Rocky funny that crossed my mind as well Buy a Harley and get a free Hummer :y114: better values for your bucks this way

I could tell you what the underlying and main cause of the problem with the American automotive industry is; but I am not about to open that can of worms in the open forum!

In my opinion, civilian hummers are an absolute waste of money and typically nothing more than mobile status symbols.

Hmmmmmmm. same can be said for (some) HDs. Why not give 'em away? Heck, that's the only way I'd have one...

Yes Carl, I think we all know what the problem is - but as you suggest, let's not open that can of worms here. There is nothing to be gained.

Last summer gasoline was selling for $1.44 a litre here. It's now down to 84 cents and expected to go lower. It's already into the 70's in some parts of Canada.
When the price of oil and gas takes that much of a slide that fast you know we're on a slippery slope to God knows where!

Free Harley?!!!! Well, i now know i won't be buying the hummer i was considering. Do you think if i ask them nicely they'd sell it to me without the harley? :y24:

Sorry HD guys, i couldn't resist, it was too good of a setup ! :ya2: harleys are fine bikes, but that was too good of an opportunity to pass up. (if i could afford it along with a triumph, i'd love to have a screaming eagle!)

Or sell the Harley and buy 2 Triumphs!
I would definitely own a Harley before a Hummer! Geez, those things get gallons to the mile, and one magazine test stated that you could measure their acceleration with an hour glass.
