After a great deal of searching, research, and comparison I just bought a 2012 Tiger 800 XC yesterday morning. I used to ride a green 09 Kawasaki Versys, and while it was a great bike, it is nothing compared to the tiger.

Let me just say WOW! I have never ridden anything so smooth! MY Versys was buzzy and clicky, it clunked into every gear, and the gears were so short it felt like it was red lining all the time (even though it was only at about 5K RPMs). The tiger is a completely different animal (pun intended). Everything on my tiger feels like it has been carefully engineered with quality and craftsmanship, where as the Versys feel like it has been stamped out on a production line. The difference is night and day.

Did I mention the engine is smooth? It is a good thing that there is a gear indicator on the instrument panel, because I cannot tell if the bike has shifted half the time.

I am grateful to the Versys for being so dependable and affordable, but the Tiger is just amazing. I found a fantastic deal on it as well. I managed to track one down that had been traded in for an explorer after only a couple thousand miles. Best of all, the previous owner had decked it out with Triumph hard cases, engine guards, etc... Buying used also saved me a ton of money on taxes as well.

It was just one of those things where I was in the right place at the right time.

Speaking of the right place, it took me a while to find this forum, but I am glad I did. There is a nice UK based forum, but there was not much for a US rider. I registered for Tiger specific forum, and could not help but laugh when I found out that all the posts in the entire forum were spam. Looks like I will be getting an inbox full of banned pharmaceutical and manhood enhancer ads. Live and learn I suppose.

When I am not riding or spending time with the family I work as a nurse in a busy St. Louis emergency room. Needless to say I always wear protective gear...

Here is a pic of my daughter and I when I brought the new Tiger home:

I am the tall one :y2:

Welcome to the forum and I love the photo. What a cutie!TUP Congrats on the XC and welcome to the world of Triumph. I believe I know you from another forum, the tiger800 forum. It is good to see you here.

I certainly love my XC. Best all around bike I have owned in 54 years of riding.

LOL I started an account over there before I found this place. It is nice to see another perspective on things, but it got a little frustrating with no frame of reference for any of the places that people were talking about. Not to mention all the items that were for sale were over seas and off limits. I will still lurk there, but I found I didn't have much to add to the conversation.

I am glad you joined with us. We have an eclectic mix here from all over the world. We are a friendly bunch - and we love photos.

I "know" a few of the guys on the 800 forum from a couple of new Bonneville forums and classic bike forums. I still have my Bonneville and love it. But my Tiger gets most of my attention.

Welcome to TT from Southeast Texas.

Cute daughter you have there and a good looking Tiger. I'd like to get an XC someday but each time I take my "Girlie" out for a ride I find more I like about her.

Be sure and check out some of the games we have here on TT. They can be a great excuse for a ride and like Carl said, we like photos here.
