That is good to hear. I hope it does well for Triumph. It comfortable to sit on for me; but it is too heavy for my purposes. I did a 590 mile road trip yesterday on the XC and it and I did just fine. It will run all day at 80 mph plus. :y2:

LOL I am a bit of a reb. :y2:

Some bikes can and some bikes can't - this is an extract from a blog on the SA Bikefest and this is the same pass FS et al took the Explorer through :) Without problems!!!
We then went on to the Katberg pass and having heard horror stories from others the night before I decided to stay on tar until Fort Beufort while my 3 far more adventurous mates took on the Katberg and Deuwelskloof passes (both are categorised as Red routes) At first I regretted not being brave enough to take on the red routes but am thankful I didn’t attempt it when I heard the stories from a few of the guys.

Or perhaps, Gromit, some riders can and some riders can't. I'm using my XT Yam to learn how to ride dirt with a view, hopefully, to graduate to a Tiger 800XC sometime next year, but I don't think I'll ever have the confidence or ability to take a 1200 Explorer off-road. But this is all quite OK; I think the 800XC is a fantastic bike!

I understand what you are saying, Dave. I had not ridden dirt for thirty some years prior to buying the XC. It is all of the bike I want to handle off road. The XC's capabilities exceed my skill level. The Explorer is too big for me on anything except a maintained non-paved road.
