Congratulations, Gromit! You did well. TUP

Yesterday, I went to Walt Disney World with my daughter and two youngest grand kids (5 & 7). We spend the day in Animal World and most of the day in the Africa section. They have a ride, African Safari, that is an open air ride in actual bush trucks across a reconstructed African plain. It includes fake termite mounds. They elephants, cheetahs, hippos, black and white rhinos, giraffes, and a variety of the antelope/deer family. We saw a cheeta and a lion sleeping just like in your photos. The giraffes walked right by the truck; the kids were thrilled. I really enjoyed your photos - which were taken in real Africa. :y2:

Bring the kids on over - I'd love to have a car load of kids and take them on a trip through the bush!

Not sure if that post is a big joke or if you're serious.
If I had a car load of kids and went on a trip through the bush just the car and myself would exit the bush.
Given the choice of burning bamboo under the fingernails or a road trip with kids ... hmmm, bamboo sounds like a winner.

Ha ha. I'm actually serious - kids are the BEST spotters for everything that moves. They're way better at spotting well camoflaged animals than I am. And they're excited about seeing new things and their excitement is contagious. I love being around kids as long as they're over 10 years old. Besides, by mid-afternoon they're shattered and fall asleep - if that doesn't work, there's many a way to spike a sodapop!

Gromit, both of my daughters are planning a trip to SA, possibly next summer. Whether or not Christy and Tony will take the kids is up in the air. I may go to Denver and baby sit. Christy, Sheryl and their respective hubbies want to climb Kilimanjaro. What Mae Lyne and I would like to do is come with them and baby sit in SA while they go off on their climbing adventure! However, $$$$ is the problem for Mae Lyne and me.

Carl, that would be great. Kili is quite some challenge but no so much that they need months of training before hand. It's cold, cold, cold and altitude sickness can be a problem. Sooner they do it the better - the snow cap on Kili is melting quite fast. Tanzania is a beautiful country. You & Mae Lyn come and babsit in SA and we'll take good care of you :y2:
