Hello just a couple of pictures I took on Thursday last week ,had a ride out up the Derwent valley to Ladybower dam and up to Derwentwater as some people will know this stretch of water and Howden dam is where the Dambusters practiced the runs for bombing the German dams ,on the anaversey of the mission a Lancaster bomber and a Spitfire do a fly past over the dams and down the valley at a very low altitude, a visitor centre at the bottom of the dam is open all year.

Thanks for the link ,going to Paderborn in July then going down to Portugal, going to spend a week in Germany so will go over and have a look.

Good idea ,my youngest son and his family are living in Paderborn he's just left the services and I know he would be very interested in going there, on my last trip we went to wersburrg castle home of the SS . They don't like you taking photographs so had to be a bit under hand so apologies for the quality, thanks again for the link.

That's another one on my list then, I'm hoping to do Poland next year, to see the 3 tunnels in the great escape and then down to Auschwitz .
Going to put the location in the sat nav now so I don't forget it. TUPTUP
Is this the castle, as it's the only thing that comes up on Google.
and if it is, and looking at the location, this could be on the cards on the way, or on the way back.

Pictures were fine by the way.

Thanks Big L, I'm off to Holland, Germany, and Austria in June and that is on my way there or back, I will seriously have to have a long look at the website and hopefully have enough spare time to take a detour there.
Thanks ever so much for that. TUP
