There were a lot of ceremonies and reenactments to mark the 75th anniversary of the Normandy invasion. Vintage aircraft flew and were displayed as well as vintage automotive vehicles. These photos center around the Jeep. Built by the thousands during WWII, The original Willys MB and the Ford GPW, known collectively as the Jeep, helped save the world.

Wonderful pictures of and about a great machine TUP TUP
When the Jeep began to appear in large numbers it quickly began to replace the motorcycle and took over many of the bike duties and became the tough-as-nails, almost-goes-anywhere and almost-does-anything vehicle.

Very well said, Rocky. All of the allies, except the USSR, adopted the Jeep. For our younger members who may not know, the military nomenclature for the Jeep was General Purpose or GP for short. Soon GP was pronounced "Jeep" and the name stuck.
