Randolph Scott was a pretty big movie star in the 40's to the 60's. He starred in a lot of war pictures and westerns.
This is a picture from the movie I watched last night.

In a way, Randolph Scott was John Wayne and Clint Eastwood's predecessor and role model. Maybe not directly, but he was part of the previous generation. I remember a song that referenced Randolph Scott as a fairly well-known western movie hero, at the time the song came out.

Randolph Scott was in many kinds of movies throughout his career, but eventually settled on doing only westerns and he made a bunch of those.
He was a good horseman and gun handler and fitted the role well. His last movie was in 1964 with Joel McRae.
His movies frequently show up on the classic channel and I record them. Many I have already seen.

I cannot recall ever hearing of Randolph Scott before.
Really?? Big star in WW2 movies and, of course, the westerns of the 50's and even the 60's (if my memory is correct); heck, even the country music group, "The Statler Brothers" had a song with him in it...………"Whatever Happened to Randolph Scott" which was a tribute to him and other western stars of that era.
The "village idiot" is no longer a youngster, anymore: Jim
