Ok, just found some info on google which might shed some light on the Pacific Blue colour, and where you may have got this from.
This was on a Norton forum:
The Paint Code A68- A089B6196V is the Lotus Pacific Blue Paint code, which Is the nearest match to polychromatic blue, but GOLD Base Coat must be sprayed on first then the Lotus pacific Blue on top of the gold untill the green tinge has gone ,but it must sprayed in thin coats, do not try to spray it all in one go you will spoil it. Let it dry for 24 hours inbetween coats ,3 to 4 thinish coats should do it, the last coats are lacquer thin coats again, 3 to 4 thinish coats If anything goes wrong then let it dry do not touch when wet , when its dry you can rub down and start again. Use a small gravity feed gun as this is best for motorcycle paint work with less over spray. One Big Thing You MUST DO is to KEEP ALL PAINTING AREAS CLEAN ??? And Free From Dust NEXT Temperature YOU Must Have a Room Temperature At 60F or just above , Do NOT Spray When the Room Temperature is below 60F.
None of this info is mine, but it looks like the Pacific Blue that Triumph use now is not what was used on a '72 Tiger. This info off the Norton site is someone trying to replicate the polychromatic blue using a Lotus colour - pacific blue.
Hope that helps without confusing the issue.

650 ya I'm confused. So yer sayn that Tri didn't use pacific blue/poly on tiger? Thanks for haha confusin info
I'm saying someone's tried to match polychromatic blue (presumably couldn't get that paint anywhere), and found that Lotus pacific blue was the nearest colour to it. The pacific blue that Triumph use on their current bikes is not the same colour as Lotus pacific blue, which seems to be where the confusion lies, ok.

So ill assume that you don't want the gold tint on the white?Isn't anything ever easy?

The gold tint was part of the paint process using Lotus pacific blue, forget about that and find out exactly what colour your bike should be (someone on this site should know), see if you can get that paint or have it matched by an auto-paint supplier. I have a feeling Triumph might have made this colour (polychromatic blue) using a silver base coat under a candy blue which is translucent - meaning you can see the silver metallic base through the blue. Triumph use this effect on current bikes painted cardinal red - that is candy red applied over a silver base coat.

Was hopin to get most of it together this year but not gonna happen so I guess ill go with what the owners manual says for now which is Pacific blue unless someone else chimes in and says different.Itll give me a chance to save up some dough. One thing I've noticed on this site is the moderators do most of the replies.A lot of GP.If yer interested in the resto process goto KAZS triumph and you'll see what's been done.A few pics too. Thanks for all the help Rob and others!Great site
