I was cleaning up my shop today, wood shop, trying to correct the neglect it has suffered the last couple years. The boys had done a few projects too and there was a big mess I've been avoiding. Well I couldn't avoid it any longer do I started junking and I ran across a pen blank that was just begging to be turned.

So . . .

A Redwood Burl Slimline pen was rescued from that small piece of wood.

And wouldn't you know it, just as I finished this one a piece of Limba was crying out for some relief. The finish on the Limba is still curing and will be finished tomorrow.

Well I made it back out to the shop to do a little more cleaning and wouldn't you know it, I got side tracked again. The two pens on the left are from this morning, a Bird's-Eye Maple and the other Redwood Burl I found over the weekend.

Still have that box of hickory I need to clean out and I found some Catalpa and some grey engineered wood that's sure looking like it needs to be cleaned up. BBEER

I was just looking in the front yard and I got to thinking about that stinking elm tree that Kim likes and I HATE. . . I wonder how many pens I could get out of it? Technically if I gave her a pen, pepper mill, and a few more items turned out of it's wood she would still have the tree and I could get rid of that oversexed monster that keeps covering my truck with his/her excretions . . . Right? Where's my chainsaw?

Good luck with that!!! BGRIN

My neighbor across the street was celebrating his 80th Birthday and I decided to do a little something for him. He's a Vietnam Vet, flew fighters but spent most of his time flying ground support missions. I helped him build a small memorial for those that paid the ultimate sacrifice from his squadron and the troops he provided ground support.
