Scrub

Member
I just changed the rear pads on my 2010 America per the Hanybes Manual instructions and now they are scrubbing any time I move the bike. Any suggestions on what I might have missed?

I assume you pressed the cylinders back out to starting position when installing the new pads.Is it a constant scrape/rub or only at certain positions of the wheel/rotor?
I did press the out and it is a constant scrub when I move the bike. They got hot and very soft when I was starting and stopping to set the pad after I installed them.

I think I need to clean and lube the posts on the bracket that the caliper slides on, but I can’t find a recommendation on what to use to lubricate them.

There are different brands of brake lube for this purpose.
I use a synthetic hi-temp brake lubricant called Ultra Slick from Permatex. Use it sparingly. A little goes a long way.
It helps to get the parts very clean first to allow smooth movement as the brake is used.

Thanks guys. They have the Permatex at my local Advance Auto. I will pick up a tube before I head home from work, and hopefully be back on the road shortly after. I have to make sure the rears are working right before I do the fronts.

Everything seems to be fine now. I do have a bit of strange noise in the front brake but I think it’s just from setting the pad to the rotor. We shall see.
