Well ive taken the decision to change the Tiger 800xca as ive had a hankering for the scrambler 865 for years , and a realy good 2017 black one with only 3500 miles from new has just come up in a local dealer .
i looked at the street scrambler but its to small for me at 6'1" and a 34" inseam i look a bit silly on it but the older air cooled 865 is a better fit , and in my opinion the better looking bike ( just my taist ) and i wanted to get back to simple jump on and ride rather than rider modes, traction control and abs settings ... i just dont use them i like a bike to be raw .
i will let you know when ive done the deal and have some pics ... im very :rolling:

Glad you're getting back to your roots. I've found the added complexity of my Speed Triple RS is a bit of a challenge, but then I don't mind learning how to fiddle the thing so it's right for me. I do appreciate that the RS unlike my Thruxton R stays however I configure it, while the Thrux reverts to ROAD when I shut the ignition off and have to toggle it back to SPORT everytime.

Poor atomsplitter, such a terrible thing having a full stable of bikes… LOL

Dont get me wrong the tiger is a fantastic bike ! .. but im finding as i get older im finding electronics to be more and more boring , i want to be more hands on with things and want a simple bike just to ride for the fun of it .

This is the bike at the dealership .

Great looking ride. The pipes haven't turned blue yet so the miles must have been very easy. I would add a center stand to make servicing easier but that's all. My old 2007 doesn't have a tach and I real like that this bike does.

Love those older air cooled Scramblers. Would be great to get one. Always liked them. They are a rare thing these days.
I was looking at one in Nova Scotia a few weeks ago, but thought it had a bit more mileage than I wanted.
Like you, I love the Tiger, but yearn for a simpler machine.
Congrats, Shane. Enjoy.

Oh, and I think you'd fit great on a 1200 Scrambler. Modern, yet still pretty basic.

I did look at a 1200xc they had in but like you it had a few to many miles on the clock , plus I realy like the air cooled T100 motor its nice and simple not much to go wrong .

That’s nice to hear. Admittedly I don’t have experience with the models with electronics, but my experience with cars said go for simple on a motorcycle!

Well that all turned out to be a complete waste of my time  , im not going to go in to detail but what I will say is that I have had 3 occasions were I have had dealings with Triumph dealers ... and none of them up to know have been plesent or rewarding !

I realy do despair of Triumph dealerships and Triumph's attitude to customers .... IT STINKS !!!

Well that sucks!

Well something realy strange has happened :y150: I do not like cruiser style bikes I never have , but I rode a suzuki c1500 t intruder black addition and I loved it :y26:.
It was so comfy I couldn't believe it ! ... so im now seriously thinking of going that way ( im not in to chrome and all that ) If I can find something stealthy like the intruder .

The scramblers are becoming very popular over here and are the in thing at the minute making second hand bikes go for not much less than they were new .
So there are some very over inflated prices out there making it dificult to find anything for a reasonable price .
