Hi, I want to have my bike painted and I was wondering if I had to say it to DVLA or not. Any one knows anything about the law in UK?!?
Thanks

Now this is an intresting one never thought about something like that and am not even sure what the story on this would be my side. Come to think of it I have had many bikes and cars redone and never informed them. I know if you change the motor you need to give them the new number to change

DVLA = Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, just in case anyone was wondering BGRIN

yes you do have to notify dvla as soon as possible ,after you change piant . or incur a big fine !
i forgot to mention that the DVLA does not bother with shades of colour , for instance your bike is dark blue and you paint it light blue ! there is no need to tell DVLA as it is the same colour .
to the DVLA it was blue before and it is still blue now !

Hi guys, sorry if i didn't post pics yet but I'm a bit stuck with my Speed Triple 07 project.
I got everything ready to swap my green set with the repainted one but when I went to check online on how to remove the petrol tank (as you can see I'm not an expert....) it looks like there are many thing that could go wrong and then I start worry. At the shop they told me that it's a complicated job.
Does have of you did ever took tank off (pump and everything) and if so can you help me with a quick guide??
Should his be in a different topic?!? If so admin feel free to move it from here.

Thanks for your help!!!

Okay on a 2005 -2007 model to remove the tank....

Remove tank bolt near the handlebars.
Remove the seat.
Remove both side covers. (one bolt hidden by the seat, one bolt where your knees go. two plastic clips seat end, one plastic clip by your knees)
Remove the rear tank bolt and nut.
Pull off the two vacuum hoses (note which one goes where) They are on the left hand side under the tank where your knee would go. Try raising the tank an inch to get your hands in.
Next is the fuel pump electrical connection. Right hand side, underneath the tank, also where a knee would go - it's a white one. Tricky this one.
Next remove fuel line, you have to push in on further into the steel pipe, squeeze it with two fingers then pull. It's vacuum seal, so don't worry about a bit of fuel leaking out at first.

That's it, lift it off, rear first. It'll be heavy if there's a lot of fuel in it.
Don't lose the rubber mount on the front of the tank.

Another trick once you've got all the bolts out, is to prop the rear of the tank up with a bit of wood to enable you to get your hands in there for the pipes and connector.

The fuel pump is inside of the tank, as you will see once you've got it off.
