Has anyone used one of these car covers at all. I purchased one today for my one car that stands outside to protect it from the morning frost and rain. Now I have in the past heard that they are not very good for your car but cannot remember why. The one I purchased was a high end one and the most expensive I could find. It seems to be made out of a very soft almost rubbery compound.

This is not the one I got but you get the idea

Reason people say they are not good.....

1) Wind will make them flutter and mark the paint
2) Moisture gets trapped underneath them and underneath the entire car
3) If the car isn't perfectly clean when you put it on, then dirt gets ground into your finish.

I'm not saying I subscribe to these reasons, but it's just things I've heard.

I agree with the 3 above.
I use a car cover but I have 3 double-bed cotton sheets sewn together to make an under cover between the car and the cover.
I use it within my weatherproof garage, don't think I'd risk it outside.
I have matching covers and cotton sheets for my bikes also.

BTW, love your car. Do ya wanta swap? I'll pay the transport costs.

I used a good, cotton duck cover on my Porsche. I kept a good wax job on the car and it never suffered any ill effects from that cover. I covered it in the garage or outside in the parking lot at work. Cotton duck breathes and moisture does not build up under it.

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.

I did enjoy the message of that song and I appreciated the message of it. But I had my Porsche in the 80's. :y2:

I thought you guys hated Janis Joplin?

Don't hate her; but don't care for her music. I did like "Me and Bobby McGee"; but I like the original version by Roger Miller much better. It was written by Kris Kristofferson.

The Carpenters did it too? Never heard their version, not that I care too.

:y23: :y23: No I don't think they did but I hated to let AJ know that I actually liked another one of her songs :y34: :y52:

This is the only version I know about
