One of my relatives who owns a body and paint shop (he is into custom bikes and classic car & truck restoration as well) is one of several sponsers who are having their second annual car and bike show at a mall in Burlington, NC this weekend. All the proceeds go to Hospice (they are to me one of the greatest organizations around). He has also been sponsering an annual concert event each summer (last weekend) that features 6 bands and all the money raised goes to a child in this area who is in need of major medical care. the last three had heart transplants including a young girl the benefit was held for this summer. He is a great guy with a big heart (except when it comes to my bill when he does body work for me. :y2:.) He painted the tank on my bike and will paint my '53 Chevy truck at some point in time. Actually he does all of my vehicle body and paint work. He is a little more than most but he is very good. He does most of the custom work in this area. I am going to enter my bike Sat. and even if I don't win anything the $20 entry fee goes to a good cause. I will take pictures and post the British bike pictures including mine. So, you know what I will be doing for a few hours Fri.

Good luck this weekend and like said before, looking forward to the pictures. Don't just grab Brit Bike photos, include some of the lesser bikes and cages too.

I hope they raise a record amount of money for such a great cause.

Rocky, I keep on reminding him that we are cousins and he continues to tell me how poor he is. But I know different. I will tell you that an elderly gentleman hit my wifes car front bumper (scraped it and knocked some paint off) and the guy wanted me to get two estimates (he paid for it out of his pocket to keep the insurance people out of the mix which in this case was a smart move). One estimate was for $400. He said that he would do it for that amount. When I told him who hit it and he was paying for it out of his pocket he lowered the estimate to $325.

A very nice and kind gesture. He sounds like a man who I could easily call friendTUP

My '79 Bonnie won 3rd place in the pre '84 catagory. There was an older Kawasaki, but other than the two of us all the other bikes were HD's or custom bikes. So, we were pretty much competing against HD's and three of the event sponsers were HD Dealers. So, we were up against all odds. Even if I had not won anything I am still happy that I took my bike. The money was for a great cause. I was not happy in the poor turnout of other than HD bikes. Hopefully that will change next year. I am sending pictures. The car show was great. One of the guys I know entered his $180,000 1956 Chevy. Another high school friend had without a doubt one of the best looking 1957 Chevys that i have ever seen. He sold it about a year ago. Everyone was coming up telling him how good it looked. His comment was that he had the car for 5 years and nobody told him how good it looked, but instaed waited until he sold it (to another friend) to start telling him that and had he been told that when he owned it he probably would never have sold it. What a fun day it was seeing friends who had cars and bikes in the show as well as spectators I knew. Some I haven't seen in 40-50 years. So, the trophy was nice but everything else was more important to me. One of the sponsors (Gourmet 52 Restaurant) supplied the trophies.

Thanks guys. I am not a big HD fan even though I have a lot of HD riders as friends. I did once ride a Sportster, but to my HD friends they look at Sportster riders much the same way they look at all the other non HD riders. They don't consider a Sportster a real HD because it does not have all the accessories hanging off of it. I told one (when he brought over his HD with a new fairing and windstream windshield on the front). My comment was that his next purchase should be a complete enclosed bubble with an AC/Heater unit. There were some nice looking custom bikes there which actually look more trophies home that did the HD's. To me all HD's look the same and the majoriety of them were in the same class so they knocked each other off when the trophies were passed out. But, like I said, these HD guys did a lot of work to raise a lot of money for a great cause and for that my hat's off to them.

Rocky, what city or town in NS do you live? I have a friend who lives in Halifax and I ordered some parts from a Triumph parts store in Halifax.
