I searched for the thread where we talked about the Lancaster bombers, but couldn't find it so I'll start this one.
When I was in Hamilton the week before last I saw the Lancaster undergoing a thorough check-over before the long flight to England. The check was completed and the bomber test-flown and performed beautifully.
Lift off was scheduled for this morning (4 Aug.) at 10:00 AM our time (11:00 AM for me). With a maximum load of fuel on board the bomber was towed to the runway to make it easier on the brakes. That caused a slight delay in departure and then one engine flooded on start-up further delaying departure by another hour.
As I report this the bomber still hasn't left, but is expected to very shortly.
I'll keep you up to date.
