Had a revalation this evening. Took the bike for a run with the left side fairing off! Coolant all up to date, oil and filter changed, (no water in the oil, phew!!!) Heard a hissing noise from around the front of the bike somewhere. Had a look but couldn't see anything. did a few more miles and went to my mechanics place. He was still working and had a listen to the bike. He seems to think it could be as simple as a radiator cap!!! If the cap's cactus, it will allow pressurised coolant to escape from the radiator and then into the overflow tank. As the bike isn't overheating and everything else seems OK, maybe he's correct. I'll go get another cap tomorrow (Saturday) and see if his theory is correct. Seems quite possible.

I'll post again soon with the result.

AUD $25.00. Part arrives Monday Arvo. Here's hoping. Whilst all the tupperwares off, gonna give the motor a winter clean and wipe the grime from inside the headlights. May even put some brighter globes in too. I only just replaced the chain and sprockets a month back. The Mrs. aint happy but I told her that if I have to keep driving the car to work it's gonna cost more. She shut up. (for a while).

Catch ya later.

Well, in between shifts and other stuff Susie had me doing, I finally got to work on the Trophy. pulled the fairing off, tank and side covers. All but the headlight nacelle. Gave it a good going over, Checked all the hoses, (all OK) checked all the wiring (ok) checked anything I could think of that didn't look right. Changed the coolant (again) and also replaced the radiator cap. Put it all back together again. Went to start it, all good. let it run for a while, still good. turned it off, fans running. All seemed ok. took it for a run, OK. Thought it could do with a wash and polish. Looked nice. went to start it. DEAD !!! tried and tried, eventually got it going but only on 3 cylinders. Peed off :( Went inside asnd had lots of beer...

Today, got up early as I was due to start duty at 3.00pm. Pulled the tank off, noticed water on the top of the engine. Lots of it. noticed that the spark plug access on 3 and 4 was a bit wet. Pulled the leads out. WATER up to the top... bugger... Soaked it all out with a rag. pulled the plugs out. Cleaned them and dried the plug caps and leads. A bit of CRC to dispell any water I had missed. Checked the other plugs. All good. re fitted the tank and leads. hit the starter, slowly slowy turned over.... :( BATTERIES drained... jumped it from the car. BINGO. Runs on all 4 and seems smooth. let it warm up, re fitted all the rest of the bits I took off. Took it for a quick run on a sunny and mild mid winters day. Ran well.

I'm hoping that this has fixed the bike. Maybe it was only the radiator cap afer all. A few more runs will tell. I'll use it for work for the rest of the weekend, that will put a couple hundred klms on the clock. if not, the RAC will get another call probably :)

Have a great weekend guys and girls.

Lee :)
