Washed my (new to me) tiger 800xc yesterday. Started, as most washes do, with pre-rinse with the hose. Bike was pointed at me so i started at the front, logical right? Well, one blast of the hose was all it took to make the front high mud guard (beak) snap and flop around like a fat chick on a pogo stick. I ordered a new support kit for it today. I'm just hoping that that is what broke. Haven't taken it off yet...that for after work today.

Anyone else have this happen? Lie to me...say yes so i don't feel so dumb. WINK

I think that happened to Jessica once but I'm not real sure. Do you have a video of this wash thing you're talking about? I might be thinking of something totally different.

I do know I've never broke her beak.

As you might can tell, I've been known to be a SMARTASSon a few occasions. :y2:

Proto, welcome......howdy and congratulations on your new ride. SOMEONE failed MISERABLY when they presented you the keys.

RULE 1 of Tiger OWNERSHIP -----NEVER FOOKING WASH THEM! ------ it is the years of grime----the road rash the tar and dirt and filth and dust and sweat and piss and acif rain that HOLD these thing together for millions of miles!!!!

Now--- find a mud bog and go drop her in it a few times......duct tape the beak back on ---possibly bend a 90 degree angle shelf bracket flat with a hammer and use a couple bolts for good measure ..........and RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!BBEER

Its a TIGER!

You're a bunch of cunts. Happy to be part of the crew. Lol

Haven't done much off roading yet. Mostly commuting and urban hooligan :shit:. On a real note, however, I have a question. Tiger 800 is my first bike. Reason is everyone said that if I got anything smaller I'd be ready for an upgrade I'm 4 months. It's been almost 2 months and I feel ready for a bigger (faster) bike. I red line through all six every time I ride. I want more. Is this odd?

Only for a TOSSER BUWAHAHAHAHAAAAAA

Take that thing out and play in the dirt......air out the shocks flick it through some hairpins.......then go get a BIGGER trailie and try it........

NOW if your mostly a Tarmac teetotaler ......snag a Speed3 .......tweak the comp and the exhaust......and pay up your life insurance ;) your gonna have some HOOLIGAN FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the fun, personally don't like the C word, however if you seriously are redlining in every gear all the time you need a speed triple! SOON.
No beak to fall off and you will find the rev limiter higher up the rev range!
Good luck.

Aww. Sorry for cussing. Did i hurt feelings? It was a homage to Triumph's lineage and their affinity for such language in that region. A friend of mine has a northern accent and that word is used like punctuation. I apologize for the offense. I do. But i'll probably use that word, and words like it again. Buckle up, put 'cha helmet on. (and please don't be a twat waffle and ban me for words on a screen typed in jest and not specifically intended to harm, judge, categorize, offend, or otherwise rustle jimmies.) Things could get bumpy. I'll do my best to navigate us safely through this.

This is the first forum i have ever been a part of. This is literally my 4th post...ever. If you give me some time i'm sure i'll screw it up much worse.

As for the Speed triple...you are probably right. The only bikes i rode prior to the tiger (love that rhyme) were a TU250X and a sporty 1200c. I loved cranking the 1200 throttle, but it felt a bit sluggish to me too. And it had frighteningly weak stopping power. Not like the tiger...70 to 0 RIGHT NOW! In the short time i have been riding my confidence level has gone way up. For street riding i definitely need a street bike...this hobby is going to get 'spensive.

And another thing....

Took all the plastic bits and my fog lights and such off last night. It was just the "mounting kit" eh..beak support thingy that broke. I'm glad I preemptively bought a replacement. It looks silly with out its nose.

Took off the fog lights too and all the aluminum bits (heel guards and sump protector.) say what you will, but I'm getting them powder coated matte black to look like Norman Reedus' tiger in the promo shots for his show "Ride". Excited doesn't even touch the reality of my anticipation.
