After a cold and wet spring, summer hit us like a ton of bricks with unusually high temps and humidity. Temps vary every few days from 24C to 34C and killer humidity. Very unusual weather for us. It never gets this hot here. High temp records from 100 years ago are being broken.
The past few days have been wonderfully cool, but today (Saturday) it was forecasted to be in the low 30's C and with a humidex warning of upwards to 40C. Anyone with medical problems need be wary.
With that in mind I was up early today and hit the road at 6:00 AM for a ride 60km (36 miles) down the coast and brekky at a family restaurant I like very much.
The ride down and back was in fairly thick fog due to the humidity, but at least it was fairly cool. On the way back I stopped at one of the many sand beaches along the way for this shot. The tide was fully in so not much sand is showing.

When I got back to the city the sun had just come out and as I was riding past Fairview Cemetary I decided to go in and take a look at the Titanic cemetary section. I ride or drive by the cemetary several times a week, but haven't been inside for well over 30 years.
It's quite impressive and visited by a great many tourists judging by the worn grass and bare spots.
It's the largest Titanic gravesite except for the bottom of the Atlantic ocean.
It's a very sad and sobering place.

I come from Southampton, GB where the Titanic sailed from on that fateful voyge and have a relative on my Fathers side who has his grave in the Atlantic also on my mothers side a Survivior of that day who for the rest of his life never felt warm, and always insisted that the Childrren always wore there coats even in summer so they would never feel cold .....

Thanks for the Pictures

This city has a huge connection to the Titanic disaster because of the rescue and recovery - mostly recovery which is why we have such a large gravesite here.
Our Museum of the Atlantic on the city waterfront has quite a few artifacts on display that were found floating in the ocean; deck chairs; interior woodwork, etc.
I haven't been to the museum in ages either.
