Even though my birthday is in July, my kids chip in and purchase tickets for Mae Lyne and I to a University of Florida football game each year. Our whole family are avid Gator fans. Yesterday, the U of F hosted The Citadel, a military college. It wasn't much of a game; the coach took the Gators' first string out during the first few minutes of the second quarter with the score already 48 to 6. The final score was 70 - 19 and Florida was playing everyone on the bench. The atmosphere in the stadium, nicknamed The Swamp, is always loud and fun. It is just fun to be a part of it.

Mae Lyne decided she felt good enough to go on the bike which also makes parking MUCH easier and makes it easier to get through the traffic when leaving. So we rode the 119 miles (191.5 kilometers). The roads were crowed with Gator fans heading north. The ride back was a little cool and it was night; but it was a good ride. We rode about 40 miles south to to Ocala and stopped for dinner as the darkness closed in. The temp was about 48 F (8.8 C) when we left Ocala; but got a little warmer as we headed south. It was 53 F (11.7 C) when we arrived home. Other than our being a little cold, we were quite comfortable.

A good day and a good ride.

Don't you just hate it when that happens................???

Glad you had a great day CarlS.......................

Paul, it is indeed nice! And they treat us very well.

Dave, it was a little cool; but we were dressed for it. It was in the upper 50's when we rode up and that was quite pleasant. This time of years the temp drops rapidly as the sun goes down. And we are running about 10 degrees below normal for November. Global warming, you know.

Silli, it wasn't much of a game. But the festive atmosphere was great fun. The biggest rivalry game of the year is next Saturday; it will most definitely not be a walkover.

Good for her; she is on the right track!

Isn't it great to have a functional supporting family :y115:
My two kids are in their mid 40's now and they and their families often treat us to Sunday dinners, BBQ's and such.
But I'm the only one who rides a motorcycle :ya2:

Indeed it is, Rocky. I really love our family and our combined families are close knit. Unfortunately, we are scattered all across the country and don't get to see each other much. All three of my kids ride. The only one who does not ride is my daughter-in-law. My yougest daughter is not riding currently because she has a five and three year old. But she still has her motorcycle endorsement and she rides my Bonnie every time we get together. None of Mae Lyne's kids ride; but they support our riding.

The Gators are certainly having a great year, and I'm glad you got to go to a game. There is something very special about being there in person, even if the view is better from the living room sofa. The atmosphere just can not be duplicated.

You have a great family, and that is a credit to you and MaeLyne. It is obvious that you did a great job of setting their priorities properly. Enjoy them....they are what matters most in the world today. :y115:
