I didn't mention tattoos as part of how I define a "biker" mostly because of my military background and my tendency to associate tattoos with veterans. I have been noticing lately (since college basketball season started) that every black athlete seems to be obsessed with tattoos; this is puzzling to me as tattoos are very difficult to see against black skin.
I also recognize that tattoos are almost required as part of being a member of most criminal gangs and doubly so if you have a prison history. It should be needless to say that seeing these people on TV is as close as I want to get to them. And yes, in the USA some of the more visible motorcycle gangs are 100% criminal gangs.
I don't have a tattoo (I vividly recall when I was inducted into the U.S. Army being asked if I had any tattoos or other visible identying marks that I was glad I could say NO! as who knows if there will come a time when you really don't want to be readily identifiable by the government?) but I might get one someday - something really evil and disgusting - I always like the Marine saying "Kill them all and let God sort them out." Maybe something like that or to evidence my Vietnam veteran status "Woman and baby killer and damn proud of it." The only thing is...doesn't getting a tattoo hurt? I'm just not into pain anymore; I've already had more than my share.

I have one tattoo which I'd love NOT to have now. It's a not too large globe and anchor USMC emblem on my right upper arm easily concealed by a short-sleeved shirt.
