A good mate of mine wanted to get his Rocket 3 seat reworked but his choice of upholsterer ( http://mjmcustommotorbikeseats.com.au/ ) is 1.5 hours away in a town called Goulburn. So we decided to drive up early in my mates XK8 and drop the seat off then move on a further hour to our National Capital City (Canberra) and spend the day at the Australian War Memorial ( http://www.awm.gov.au/ ) before returning to pick his seat up.
This will take a number of post updates to cover.

Kicked of with a fuel up at 7.00am

Goulburn is a town built on wool and now housing our state police academy and a high security goal so it makes sense to have a big Merino at the breakfast stop.

While we were eating two highway boys came in for breakfast as well.

As we were leaving a third rolled in.

When we arrived at Mick's shop we were welcomed and pleased to see that he is full on M/C.
His special bike.

Another of his toys.

Possibly the most interest to this forum is his every day ride.

He makes these bags, they look very good. He will ship if interested, check his link. I think he's a good operator for what that's worth.

His personal reworked seat.

Taken much later today Ken's reworked seat and pillion pad.

I'll send this lot now and get part two going.

First shot is Lake George between Gouldurn and Canberra, it's real dry just now and we're having bush fire problems.

At the War Memorial.
This one is for our NZ mates, Australian and NZ uniforms, that's what ANZAC is about.

Most exhibits including this have detailed stories including the names of the service personal who featured in the story.
I won't try to comment on each photo because of time and my bad memory but if required I'll attempt to answer any question or comment.

Getting late so I'll post a couple more tomorrow, I'll finish up now with one of the favourites.
This old girl is known as "G for George".

Kevin, these are great posts. I would love to visit that museum. Your photos and composition are outstanding. Thank you for the pics.

I like the work that the upholster does. I would love to have him rework my Tiger XC seats, especially the pillion seat. The stock pillion seat could and should be a lot more comfortable.

I like those bags he put on the engine bars. I would like to contact him regarding those. Can you get me his email address?

This is a VERY small part of the "Hall Of Valour".
Most of the Australian Victoria Cross and George Cross holders have their medals and stories displayed.

From Google maps.
Top red spot is the War Memorial, the lower red spot is Parliament.
It's a special city.

Thanks, Kevin; much appreciated.

I love those biplanes. What a great museum; I think I could spend several days there.

Carl, we spent 4 hours today and saw only the tip of the iceberg. I've been going there since I was a school boy and I still haven't seen it all. Some say Canberra is sterile, but it always gets me fired up. Hey it's 1.05 AM and I'm still sitting talking about it.

But off to bed now.
