To ride safe we need to have the best mirrors we can get. So which do you think offers the best rearward view - bar end or standard long stem mirrors?

Your mirrors look really good but I can't find suitable them in the UK. What is the thread on the master cylinder and do they simply bolt through the clutch lever bracket on the left?

Agreed with Seeker. Whatever works best. I prefer the tall/wide stalks on the Tiger. but I also have broad shoulders and have to have really wide stalks or all I see are my shoulders or elbows. The bar end mirrors always seemed harder to see out of, having to look down and left or right, as apposed to just left or right.

But I have a friend with a Sportster who "swears" by the bar ends.......I think its mostly because they don't vibrate quite as much as stalks on a rigid mount Harley (I had one mirrors where useless---all you saw was vibrating mirrors and one FELL OFF!!! True story) , but he won't admit that.....

AN old co-worker of mine had both---in a way. BMW RT with the "built in" style stock BMW mirrors (part of the fairing) then he ADDED stalk mirrors as well!!! He can see almost more behind him than in front! lol

Sorry this probably didn't help much did it?

This really comes down to personal choice.
Either will work equally well if you like barends, but personally, I don't like them at all.
I like to keep my head up, look ahead, and be able to simply look left or right to see the mirrors.
But that's just me. Choose whatever you like best.
I have several buddies who swear by barends on their classic bikes, but they're just not right for me.

ive used bar end mirrors before as rocky says , not for me !! all i did was constantly damage them getting in and out of the shed, not to mention constantly having to adust them cos there the first thing that gets knocked .
but again thats just me.3444444434[3 sorry about that !!! got a new kitten and she just took a stroll on the key bourd:y2:

I'm late to the topic but I think you made the right choice. . . Well at least that is what I would have ordered. To be perfectly honest I've never used Bar ends so I have no first hand experience.

Probably no longer relevant to this discussion, but I prefer above the bar stalk mirrors, as I can check them often while keeping the road in my field of view. I find that checking bar end mirrors requires me to take my eyes off of the road.

That's what bothers me about barend mirrors and why I won't use them.

Well I ended up with original Bumm mirrors which are still available and appear to work well. On my Triumph TR5T I have a Halcyon bar end mirror whch looks good and folds up for fitting in the garage, the bike is a lot slower than the Tiger and vibration is not an issue. Not able to really test the Tiger, it was sold as "better then new" and is still not rideable despite looking good. The latest issue is with the carb which at around 25,000 miles has almost 1/4" of play on the slide in the main body. Sad to say I am so disillusioned it will be making appearing on e-bay when the new carb arrives. The TR5T is cherished and will retain its place in the fleet.
