Back to the 60s: “Blue and Chrome” Triumph Street Twin
FCR Original’s Modern Tribute to the Mythical Bonnie…
The Triumph Street Twin well befits the title “modern classic,” pairing old-school twin-shock styling with a 900cc, 64-bhp liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that boasts fuel injection, ride-by-wire throttle, and two rider modes (Road and Rain). The engine not only makes nearly 20% more power than earlier incarnations, but revs faster and higher thanks to lighter internals.
Stock Trim: 2022 Street Twin
Recently, our friends at FCR Original set out to turn back the clock on a new Street Twin 900, transforming a modern Triumph into a tribute to the Bonneville roadsters of yesteryear:
Nicknamed “Blue and Chrome,” this Street Twin features a new rear frame loop paired with a custom “extra-comfortable” vintage-style saddle, polished spoke wheels, Shock Factory rear shock absorbers, custom fenders and aluminum side covers, Bates headlight, a beautiful chrome tank with peacock-blue paint, and more.
Nor was the Triumph’s voice overlooked:
This is one gorgeous modern Triumph that looks like it rolled straight out of the 1960s — just how FCR Original intended. Below, they give us the full story on the build.
We imagine her rolling through the streets of London, ridden by an English gentleman/lady on their way to the ACE Cafe.
It is to pay tribute to one of the jewels in the crown, the mythical Bonnie, that our workshop created the “Blue and Chrome.” A motorcycle with a vintage look in the tradition of Triumph’s most elegant creations.
Our workshop preferred its little sister, the Street Twin, to the T120. Lighter and more manageable — a torquey, easy bike that will reassure beginners and delight experienced riders. A bike made for riding that our workshop wanted to be comfortable: high handlebars with a very pronounced bend and a custom-made, extra-comfortable seat. Elements that, in addition to being ergonomic, reinforce the vintage look of our Triumph.
It is moreover by small touches that our workshop wished to instill the 60’s spirit: Spoked rims, long polished mudguards, small speedometer, vintage emblems.
The tank of our Blue and Chrome is a main part of this realization: a peacock blue color gives it charisma and elegance, enhanced by the nobility of the chrome.
As for each of our creations, the sound is not left out. Equipped with our exhaust system, the Speed Twin 900 has a new sound that is husky and powerful without being deafening.
When it comes to riding, it ticks all the boxes; its twin-cylinder design and low weight make it both smooth and maneuverable, while maintaining torque and performance. All this in a natural position that will allow you to cover the miles.
Our Blue and Chrome will take you through the ages and will be the perfect companion for anyone looking for a refined and timeless neo-retro bike.
