My south American riding buddy (Carl) now has a BMW and the only BMW dealer in this area is in the next province, about three hours away on the four-lane.
We've been having such a cold and wet spring that he hasn't had a chance to take the bike in for requred service. In the past 40 days we haven't had one day of solid sun. Sunny breaks and a cold 9C average(48-50F), but that's about it. I haven't had a bike out in weeks.
But there is a light at the end of the tunnel - for one day at least.
Tuesday is going to be sunny and 21C(70F) so we're hitting the road at 7:30 AM and will be gone all day.
It was my buddy Carl who more or less saved my bacon after my crash in Peru. He looked after me like a mother hen and I don't think I could have made it home without him.
A couple of months ago he had an "episode" and a temporary paralysis. The doctors figure he had a mini stroke, but is fine now. Even so, not only do I want to get out on the road for a day, but I feel an obligation to give him my support. He hasn't been on a full day ride this year or since the episode so I'll be keeping an eye on him. I know his wife will appreciate me being with him - but of course I would never let him know that I'm riding shotgun:y2:

I hope y'all have a great day of riding and the times of your lives. Sharing something with someone that has a special bond to you makes for some of the greatest times.

I would be an honor to ride with CarlS, but my friend Carl (real name Carlos) and I are many hundreds of miles north of him in eastern Canada.
CarlS is down in Florida ridiing in 90+F temps, but it's a scorcher here today at 14C(57F):y2: - and raining, what else:y8:
Unfortunately, the ride tomorrow will be mainly on the four-lane because of the distance to get there, have the service done on his GS, and then ride home.
We don't have any really large rivers in Nova Scotia so we don't have anything very spectacular in the way of bridges. Lots of small bridges over streams and small rivers so they will have to do when the time comes.
But I guess a bridge is a bridge:y2: and it doesn't have to be the Golden Gate Bridge or the Brooklyn Bridge in the contest:y2:
