Man falls from upper deck at Sens game
Fan was conscious and receiving medical attention

OTTAWA - A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital after he fell about 25 feet from the upper deck of Scotiabank Place during the second intermission of the Ottawa Senators’ victory over the Atlanta Thrashers on Wednesday night.

According to witnesses, the man sailed headfirst past and over a few stunned onlookers in the rows ahead of his seat before clearing the low railing at the bottom of the third level and falling onto a row of seats in the level immediately below.

Senators president and CEO Roy Mlakar said the man was carrying two beers when he stumbled over a purse.

“He was not inebriated,†said Mlakar, who confirmed that the man had been treated on the scene for lacerations and that he was taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure.

“He seems fine, he’s totally cognizant. He recognizes that there’s nothing serious.â€

He added that two other people the man landed on in the section below also were treated at the scene, and that a third person, a 33-year-old woman, sustained a non-critical neck injury and also was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons.

Mlakar said it was the first such accident in the 13-year-old arena’s history.

I think Canada is the only country where spilling your beer is considered alcohol abuse....spilling TWO beers is next to murder! This man should be arrested!

No loss if it was Canadian beer

Ooooooooo.....what a BURN!

No doubt that it was either a Molson or Labatt if I remember the choices correctly at Scotiabank Place.

Imagine being the people below that he fell on! Look...it's raining drunks.

DILLIGAF, don't knock it unless you've tried it.
When the US warships come in to port during the summer the sailors can't seem to get enough of our beer with it's high alcoholic content. 11% I think but I could be wrong since I'm a non-drinker.
They toss it down expecting it to be like US beer and are soon zonked out of their minds :ya2:
What the heck, what's shore leave for anyway :ya2:
And I want to say that the US Navy conducts themselves in an exemplary fashion when they're in port and we love having them :y115:

I guess that didn't translate the way I wanted it to.
I was being serious when I said the US Navy behaves themselves when they're here. They don't cause trouble and handle themselves very well. If they're here for a few days they often involve themselves in civic projects that may be going on, as a goodwill gesture, and are great ambassadors.
What they do elsewhere may be a different thing.
No slap, slur or offence intended.

Just having fun, Rocky; times have certainly changed! :y114:

Wow...you said a mouthful. Maybe those Swabs don't get feisty if there are no Jarheads around to provoke them???

Me thinks services are emphasizing good behavior. From what I hear, there is very little toleration for drunk and disorderly conduct. If you get a DUI are above the grade of E4, it can easily be a career ender and most definitely a promotion stopper.

First PGR mission I ever rode on was for a seaman who was stabbed to death during a brawl in Halifax. Story was that he and some of his shipmates were attempting to break up a fight when things turned really bad. Halifax sent two policemen as representatives to the funeral. The city also collected a sum of money for the man's family. All that speaks volumes about the relations.

When I was young, the drinking age in PA was 21, but it was only 18 in Ohio as long as you drank 3.2% beer there. So Ohio had 3.2 beer while PA had what was called 7% beer. Looking at that website, there is no beer near 7%.

We used to drive over the State line to drink and they'd stamp our hand with a 3.2 stamp. Ohio has since raised it's minimum age to 21 also. I think West Virginia is ALL 3.2% beer, or at least it used to be.
