This is a 1949 1000cc Aerial Square Four that has been undergoing a ground-up restoration for over a year.
The bike was acquired in boxes, and as you would expect, many tiny bits were missing, but all the big parts were there. Bits and pieces were sourced from many countries around the world due to the magic of the internet and it all finally came together today.
The bike isn't 100% finished, but close enough so that the engine could be started.
Myself and a small group of my buddies were present for the event and it started on the third kick :Champ:
It was quite a thrill to hear it roar into life after 58 years and the builder and owner are still smiling BGRIN
The cork on a bottle of red wine was popped and the event toasted BBEER
We "vintage" guys know how to do it right BGRIN

The exhaust system is all new and correct for the bike, but I noticed that the mufflers/silencers are small and very loud.
It will be nice to hear it out on the road and how it sounds.

Hi there I just got home from the Ariel Owners Club AGM in Rothley, Leicestershire, well attended complete with an indoor auto jumble, quite a bit of square four stuff. My interest is in Leaders but the 4 strokes are the most numerous. There is a Sq4 spares specialist should you need any more parts see www.arielownersmcc.co.uk for more info. The club magazine is always looking for pictures and yours would be welcome I am sure.
