........is it that a single motorcycle brake rotor costs as much as two or three automobile brake rotors?

I'd say a combination of a couple of reasons.
Smaller production runs.
Not made from cast iron like many cars.
Not too many aftermarket manufacturers and the ones that do it cater for sports riding.
And good old price gouging.

Bikes are no where near as expensive as airplanes, boats and women.

All great points...but the reality of it still sucks!
