I am glad to say I have never had it but the one chap in my office is really struggling. He has like a pressure pad that straps onto his elbow, not sure what that is supposed to do

Hi Dazco,
I've had tennis elbow and it is very painful!
My doctor diagnosed it as Lateral Epicondylitis. I had a tear in the tendon at the point of insertion. He prescribed 4 weeks of anti-inflamatory drugs, and I wore a brace just below the elbow, similar to this

The compression on the tendon really eased the pain. I now take 1000mg of glucosamine HCI daily, it helps soft tissue and cartilage to regenerate. It took about 8 weeks to clear up, and hopefully it won't come back!

I tried one of those straps. In fact, i was in Target and found them in a package that can be opened w/o destroying the packaging, so i tried it on. Just as i was doing so a guy walked by and saw me trying it and showed me his arm....he had one on ! he told me all about how it helped. but to be honest i couldn't seem to get it to help to any degree i would consider helpful. I guess i should try one anyways and maybe after a while i'll figure out exactly where to place the bump so it works. I think i'll see if i can find one now as i go to lunch.

Dave...there is a lump on the inside of the strap and it's supposed to push in on a certain muscle or tendon or whatever and ease the pain.

Yes, in fact I have had it in both. Before they would operate the insurance company required phy. trerpy. for about 6 to 12 times then I got shots every other month then after about a year then they did the tendon release operation followed by a month of exercises . After a while it all works well and they are as good as new. I do lots of manual labor plus drive a bus at Disney and my elbows for the most park work fine. P.S. I've both wrists done too.

Heavy doses (a bit beyond the recommended amount) of an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen ought to ease the pain although it won't fix the problem. With any inflamed area, ice is best. Heat will only inflame it more.

Unless there is an actual tear in the tendon or it's anchor point, then immobilization is the cure.

Well sheet, i ain't doing that. I doubt i'll be on this planet long enough to make anything that serious worthwhile. I'll just wait it out and keep my fingers crossed. i DID just take a stroll to rite aid and got one of those tennis elbow support wrap=-around. it indeed does work after all. It doesn't stop the pain totally of course, but it feels probably a good 60% or more better. the only problem is to get the best relief it has to be too tight to really use because it cuts off circulation. So i have to try and balance tightness and pain relief. But overall it's a major relief. Now i need to try glucosamine. i used it when i had a rotator cuff unjust for about 10 years. and after all that time i tried glucosamine and it fixed me !!! I was amazed. But what is HCI gump? I never saw that. i saw glucosamine and glucosamine with conjointen, but never noticed any that said HCI.

I had a tennis elbow about 25 years ago. I was shingling my garage and doing a lot of hammering with my right arm. I got it from ignoring the pain and continuing to abuse the arm. It finally reached the point where my arm was almost useless.
I wore one of those forearm straps for many months, but it took well over a year before the last bit of discomfort went away.
Fortunately, my work was in an office so I didn't have to lift or stress the arm.

Ahhh, more good news ! :oh:

Well, if it indeed is going to be with me a year, then it will relieve me of my worry about the financial end of buying the new Tbird cuz i can't even ride now. Last time i rode was sunday and i had to turn around and go home.

Dale, here's hoping you heal quickly. I had tennis elbow and caught when the pain was just starting. I used the race thing and took lot of glucosamine and chondrioten (spelling). It went away in about six months.

you guys are killing me here ! So far it's looking like i'll be LUCKy if it lasts 6 months ! I almost can't do my job now. If this keeps up i just may lose it, and if i do i will be taking a 30-40% pay decrease IF i can even find another job. Good god !

Use the other arm for pulling the one-eyed wonder

I was gonna suggest you get yourself a good woman
:y18:

definately!! i doubt our killing spree will be happening for a while, nor will i be doing any riding. Either of those things kills me. I found a app called "dosbox" that allows you to play old dos games on XP, so i did that and i'm playing old dos arcade games that i can play with just the mouse and no keyboard ! If not for that i'd go crazy. :ya2: If you ever feel any elbow pain stop using that arm immediatly ! If i have this for 6 months or a year i'm doomed. I got some gluecosamine with conjointin tonite. Man, that stuff is expensive ! I got enough for less than a month on sale for 1/2 price....$20. Geez... If i have this very long it will cost me a fortune. :oh:

well, you can get a soundcard awful cheap nowadays. Probably a decent one for 1/2 the cost of 1 game. Maybe less. The turtle beach cards are good and start around $25 USD. ($211 SAR according to the converter) creative's cheaper cards are about there too. But even a super sheapie is gonna be better than onboard sound like you have.
