Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others.

HOWEVER, upon reflection, we would like to point out that it was NOT the senior citizens who took:

The melody out of music,

The pride out of appearance,

The courtesy out of driving,

The romance out of love,

The commitment out of marriage,

The responsibility out of parenthood,

The togetherness out of the family,

The learning out of education,

The service out of patriotism,

The Golden Rule from rulers,

The civility out of behavior,

The refinement out of language,

The dedication out of employment,

The prudence out of spending,

The ambition out of achievement.

And we certainly are NOTthe ones who eliminated patienceand tolerance from personal relationships and interactions with others!!

And, we do understand the meaning of patriotism, and remember those who have fought and died for our country.
Just look at the Seniors with tears in their eyes and pride in their hearts as they standat attention with their hand over their hearts!

YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN!

I'm the life of the party......
even if it lasts until 8 p.m.

I'm very good at opening
childproof caps....
with a hammer.

I'm awake many hours before
my body allows me to get up.

I'm smiling all the time because
I can't hear a thing you're saying.

I'm sure everything I can't find
is in a safe secure place, somewhere.

I'm wrinkled, saggy, lumpy,
and that's just my left leg.

I'm beginning to realize
that aging is not for wimps.
Yes, I'm a SENIOR CITIZEN and I think
I am having the time of my life.

Now if I could only remember who sent this to me. I wouldn't send it back to them, but I would send it to many more too!

Share the cheer. Spread the laughter.

Let's be happy While we're here.

Go Green - Recycle CONGRESS!!

Good post.

I wish I could retire in three years but with a 14 year old that is looking to go to MIT or Rice University I'll have to wait at least another 10 to 15 years.

I know that feeling - I have a 15yr old waiting to go to university too! Like I said, IF the plan works and we're not taxed to death for actually saving............................

The only drawback about retirement (unless you're very wealthy) is that you have to get old (or at least reach a certain age) to do it.
Don't wish the years away. They pass quickly enough as it is.
On 1 January I'm starting year 20 of retirement and can't believe the years passed so quickly.
I bought my first motrcycle in 34 years the year I retired and have had some of the most fun and adventures of my life TUP

OK, this should make all of us feel better. WE'RE ALL RICH!

!
I'm rich!
Silver in the Hair
Gold in the Teeth
Crystals in the Kidneys
Sugar in the Blood
Lead in the Ass
Iron in the Arteries

And
an inexhaustible supply of Natural Gas.

I never thought I'd accumulate such wealth.

I was in my 20's and working at a retirement village and was taking a break sitting on a bench outside. This old guy comes up ans sits next to me and starts chatting. He tell me about when he was in the war and was a POW and stuff like that. He then turns to me and says "I have been through some hard times in my life but the hardest so far was getting old" I did not think much of it at the time but over the years as I got older I thought about these words more and more

A lot of people don't age well; many end up with health problems; many fall into old age before their time and don't seem to make any effort to try and hold back the clock.
A lot of it is lifestyle, attitude and ambition. Of course some of it is health, but too many are content to sit and do nothing and just waste away. Nothing could be worse for you.
I vowed that was never going to happen to me, and as long as my good health holds, I'll continue to be as active as I am and ride for as long as I'm able.
You've got to have a positive attitude and enjoy every day, and not become just a lump on the sofa.

Yes it is in the mind and I have seen plenty of friend much younger than what I am become old and just get worse as time goes along. I am amazed what aliments some of my friend have its like I am stuck back in the 80's and they moved on and got old BGRIN

Hear! Hear! Darn good thread, Gromit.
