Hi I`m removing the fairing on my 97 trophy and going back to a more classic style. the alarm box and surplus wiring are being removed but the bike will only start with the box disconnected. If you take the bike out of neutral it cuts out ! How do the dealers sort this out or if it comes from the factory without an alarm ? Do I have to link out some of the wires ?

Hi Ski. Converting to a naked bike. That is cool. While I am not familiar with the factory alarms, you are correct; you will have to jump or bypass a couple of wires. Do you have a wiring diagram of your bike with alarm? If not, ask you dealer which wires you need to work with. Essentially what you will be doing is wiring around or bypassing the alarm box.

I some hope some one here who has installed an alarm will see this and give you better guidance. I am not familiar with the wiring on the Hinckley Trophy.

That's pretty complicated since the factory alarm is wired into the neutral switch (among other things).

Your alarm is a Datatool Veto+.

Datatool won't give you ANY assistance at all since they strongly recommend never disabling it:

DATATOOL FAQ-

I want to bypass my alarm. How do I do this? »

Simple answer, you don’t. Removal of the alarm is a complex affair and has several safety issues tied to it we would not recommend any un-authorised person to remove or modify their system. If you do you will invalidate your warranty and possibly also your insurance. Datatool (UK) Ltd will accept no responsibility or warranty claim for any unit where the unit has been modified or tampered with by un-authorised persons.

Have you first tried simply removing the alarm's fuse?

Second, do you have a wiring diagram? If removing the fuse doesn't work, and you really want to get rid of the alarm completely, then you'll need to locate the wire that lead from the alarm to the neutral safety switch.
