Carl is going to love this report because of the "warm" weather :y2:
Our club run was scheduled for Saturday, but since the temp was forecasted to be only 7C(45F) we postponed it until Sunday which was forecasted to get up to 14-15C(56-57F).
When I got up at 6:00 AM it was only 2C(36F), but at least it was sunny and the ride was on.
I left home at 8:30 on my Bonneville fully geared for the cold weather to meet a dozen or so riders for breakfast as we do every Sunday all year around. The ride to the restaurant was only about 20 minutes, but I was glad when I got there and my hands on a warm cup of coffee!!
At 9:30 we left for the meeting place and the temp had come up to 8C(46F) and was slowly getting warmer.
16 riders showed up for the run and at about 10:30 we headed inland away from the cold air off the North Atlantic. After about 45 minutes we stopped at a donut shop for more coffee and to warm up the tips of our fingers which were a little numb by then. It was nearing noon and the sun had some heat so all but three headed inland for lunch while myself and the others headed home. It was my wifes birthday so I felt obligated to be home early.
The ride home was very pleasant and I could feel the heat of the sun through my layers of clothing.
I had forgotten to take a camera so the only pics I have were taken at the meeting place by another fellow.
This is us at the meeting place. That's me on the left in the red jacket.

Getting ready to saddle up. Yes, we even allowed a scooter to come along :y2:

This is a lovely BSA that has been seen on many of our rides, and a really lovely Honda CBX 6-cylinder.John Smith 6.jpg

Rocky, I am the one who is supposed to forget a camera! :y15: Thaks for sharing the pics. There are some fine bikes there in that group. That is a cold winter day for me!!! :y2:

Love the fact that you even had a scoot along for the ride. Just goes to show it does not matter what you ride its all about the outing and great company
The fellow who owns the scooter is in his 60's and puts many of us to shame. He often rides to breakfast from about 20 km's (12 miles) away in cold and damp weather in the spring and fall.
He wears an electric vest and gloves so is well equipped for the cold and damp.
He also has a dual-purpose bike, but likes his scooter best I think.

I have an acquaintance who's quite up in years (I never actually asked him how old) that used to ride Goldwings. His knees aren't good and he's got arthritis in his fingers so he bought a Honda Silverwing scooter.

He has a place down in the Florida Keys which he rides to every year and back on that scooter. Pittsburgh to Key West on a scooter!!!

I test rode a 600cc scooter and it performs just about like a big bike of the same displacement. They can get up and go!
The bigger scooters really are like motorcycles with a different chassis.

He has my respect!

We have a group over on our local forum that have gone over to the scooter side. Some of them used to ride the big touring bikes (ElectraGlides, Goldwings and such), some still own and ride the big tourers and others started on scooters and are still on scooters. They ride the scooters everywhere. One has done a ride from Austin to Seattle and back a time or two and others are riding all over the state. One thing seems common with each one of them . . . They have a blast.
