A Question For All bar 13 Of You

As the title says, a wee question.
Please give it a little thought and make the effort to reply.
Every month, through a little effort of a few, for the enjoyment and entertainment of many,( I think and hope) between 3 and 8 members will get out there with their camera and take what they feel is a great photo of a set theme.Some will take several photos over the 3 weeks that part of the competition runs for,and then sort through and submit what they feel is there best shot.
So, the wee question is, why is it so hard to get a reasonable response in the voting. This month we had a total of thirteen members, yes 13 who made the effort to run there eye over 5 photos that 5 members had taken the effort to submit, and then place a wee tick against the corresponding number at the top.Last month,there were 29 voters for the yearly winner,what happened to the other 16 ?
This whole procedure can be accomplished in 30 seconds or less, yet out of a membership of 900 plus members,13 bothered to donate 30 secs of there time.
Put another way, if you accumulated the 13 times 30 seconds and ended up with 6 1/2 minutes, that is about as much time as it takes for just one of the participants to check his/her camera and walk out to their bike and get into there riding gear.

Dave,myself and a few others have been racking our brains to come up with ways to increase the number of entrys in to this monthly competition, but I think the reason has just dawned on me why folks dont bother, obviously with as little as 13 voters, then the monthly comp is not as popular as we thought it was.

So,back to the title of this post, please,please, please, if you can shed any light as to how get the competition up there to reach more than 13 members,(- 1.5% ) of the forum, can you comment please.

I didn't enter this month as my pics were really bad. I did vote but would like to comment anyways.

As far as I can work out you can't vote via tapatalk so you have to login through the browser, albeit still on the phone.

I never go into the forum itself, but only use the 'new posts' tab.

Do you think people are under the impression that you can only vote if you entered a pic?

Yup,we are aware that tapatalk members are at a disadvantage re polls etc, and for that reason Dave did send out notification to TP users.What else we can do there I dont know.

I do the same and the competition always shows up on every new comment or vote.
In fact you are more likely to miss it if you browse in forum mode instead and dont visit the photo comp section or the lounge

Well,I have put a sticky thread re voting for the comp in the lounge and I'm pretty sure it makes it clear that voting is for all.

What about a forum wide pm stating that voting has started for the monthly contest? I doubt people would consider one pm from the admin per month as spam. Insert direct link too? That would open a browser on a phone too, simplest thing I can think of for tapa users.

well i think it is a case of people think if you dont put a pic in you cant vote !
there is allso the winters some of us have when the bike goes away for a few months , i allways vote even though i cant ride my self ! but i think some people put the bike away for winter and allso forget about anything to do with the bike till spring.

Me thinks you are on the money.
Being retired I tend to check the forum each time I walk back into the house, kinda like a slow ongoing conversation and that's why I tend to only joke about. It takes longer to sit and write something with a bit of substance.
Still no harm in Harry trying to motivate people.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head boof
The truth is tho, the purpose of the games,raffles and competitions is just to get a little more variety and enjoyment into the forum.
However, as pointed out by yourself and rocky, if its not what they want then so be it.
Maybe I should just stop and get back to talking about sparkplugs,tyres and oil.

We had more voting in the yearly competition because a mass emailing was done.

Perhaps a mass email near the close of every monthly vote is taken would be in order?

Harry. . . Just wanted to let you know I'm too watching the replies you are getting and like you said there have been some good comments. Right now I have nothing to add at this time other than to comment on the photo quality, I think I've posted a photo in each month's contest even when I didn't think the photo was good enough to post.

One thing to think about too is the photo does NOT have to be of your bike or even a Triumph in the photo.

Our monthly Photo Competition will work like this.

The Rules
1. Each month we will have a theme
2. Members can submit one photo into the competition per month.
3. The photo must be theme related and have a least one motorbike featured in it. The bike does not have to be their own
4. The photos must have been taken by the member submitting it.
5. The photo must be taken during the month of the theme


I have been thinking about this scenario a bit myself over the month and these are the possibilities.

1. Send out a PM as suggested
2. See if I can get some mod made that would allow the TapaTalk members to vote in the thread itself, like an option above the actual photo.

If I look at the actual stats of this month poll thread I see the following

Members who have read this thread : 22

So this would indicate that some Tapatalk members are viewing the photos but just don't vote due to the restriction of the Tapatalk apps.

That isn't as bad as I'd figured, 22 looked 13 voted, only 9 or less than half failed to vote.
Considering TapaTalk only members couldn't vote the fail rate may be acceptable.

As one TapaTalk user, I just want to point out that it's not too difficult to jump on a PC and go to TT simply to vote! I make a point of doing just that.

I really can't add anything new. But it would be nice to see more participation. I just thought seeing monthly pictures of my lovely Tiger would be enough of a draw to keep thousands tuning in . Must just be me.
