Great story :y115:
The 1950 Thunderbird was the bike that Marlon Brando rode in "The Wild One".
I have a poster of Marlon and the 'bird hanging on the wall above my computer.

Really good story, Steve. The old Thunderbird is a classic. It does look look like the your dad's bike in the photo. Good post. And like Rocky, I remember Marlon Brando riding the T-Bird.

See the movie years ago....I should get it on DVD. Rocky good idea on the poster, ya have given me a bit of an idea. At some stage I wanna clean out my garage. My mate got me a Vintage Triumph Metal sign made up for my birthday. I want to put that on the way of my garage and it would be nice to put up a couple posters with it.....The one ya speak of and Steve McQueen. He owned Triumphs in his off movie life too.

Cheers :y18:

I found tin reproduction Triumph and BSA dealer signs on sale on the internet last year. I ordered both but the Triumph sign was sold out. I put the BSA sign up in my basement rec room and have since bought a nylon Triumph banner to decorate the opposite wall.
Since my children have long since grown up and moved away the rec room doesn't get much use so that's where I store my two Triumph's for the winter.
Steve McQueen rode Triumphs for about 12 years until they were becoming outclassed in off road events in the late Sixties then he moved on to European and Japanese bikes for desert racing.
I have "The Wild One" on DVD and VHS and watch it maybe once a year.
