I'll be leaving early Saturday morning with a few other riding buddies headed for Somerset, PA to attend the 911 Memorial Ceremonies at the site of the Flight #93 crash.

Laura Bush will be the keynote speaker and all the names of the victims will be read........many by their actual family members. There is always a large motorcycle contingent present that we should just automatically bond with as we get close to the location.

Out of respect, I will not be taking any photographs - this is not a joyous trip but one of honor and respect.

Well, that was a sobering experience to say the least. Nary a dry eye to be found.

Laura Bush's speech was really moving....Michelle Obama's was so-so. Mrs./ Bush just seems so much more sincere???

Anyhow, this was a last minute decision to go when I got a text message from one of my riding buddies asking me if I'd be interested. We thought about leaving last night and getting a room nearby as we had to be there around 7:00 AM. I did some online searching, but the only rooms left were a small fortune so we decided to just ride there before the sun came up. It sure was chilly!!

Anyhow, we high-tailed it out of there immediately afterwards to beat the auto traffic jam that was sure to happen and took the boring PA Turnpike home so we made great time.

It was well worth everything to show our respect and to honor the heroes who fought back that day.

Well done, my friend. I am glad you attended. This is the first time I have not participated in a 9/11 event. I am sure the tone of the speeches did not surprise you...
