I have a 790cc 2001 Bonneville with 14500 miles, it is blowing oil out of the breather tube and into the airbox , soaking the air filter and causing poor running.
I replaced the seal on the centrifugal oil breather pipe less than 12 months ago, it worked for a while.
I've just started the bike up for the first time in months , now it's blowing oil again .
Any ideas ?
Cheers
Nigel

Sounds like it's gone again ? Have you changed the oil recently ? And if so did you use the OE filter or am after market one ? And also are you running the correct oil ?.
I ask because if the filter is to dence it will create pressure as will the wrong oil , forcing it out through the breather also check you oil level as only a small amount over full will do the same thing .

Hi Shannered ,
I use original Triumph oil filters and Silkolene 10/40 semi synth.
I've been checking the oil level on the centre stand , just read that this may give a false reading (too high )
Will take another look tonight,I have a new Triumph oil filter & Castrol fully synth to go in.
Think I may replace the seal again ?
Other wise the oil & filter change will be wasted?

I found out some info from another Bonneville forum tonight.
It seems that the oil seal is rather special , it comes sealed in its own plastic box with a spigot holding the seal open until used, it then shrink fits around the shaft ?
Maybe this is why its so expensive ?
£26:00 !
I'll contact my local dealer tomorrow and order one, (& a clutch cover gasket ) hopefully this will cure the problem ?
