'71 T100R Paint question

I can post an error that's accepted by a few, then the few refer back to my and their subsequent posts, the next thing is the erroneous information becomes the accepted fact.

So, is it confirmed reliably that it's correct? I'm not disputing, just wondering who is the authority to confirm it? Like I said, it's nice to know reliable sources for details like this. I've only done one 500, and it was a US model, so haven't bothered to get a good source for other models...

I missed one clue that was right in front of my face: My parts manual shows the bike with the "Waist" band. What's curious is that this is a US parts book, and it shows a paint pattern that apparently wasn't used in the US. In other areas where there is a difference between US and UK models, it correctly shows the US variant.

I have seen that in my TR6 parts book; some of the illustrations are UK versions.
