I'm restoring a 71 T100R that is a UK model (not export), and am getting ready for paint. I know the original colors (Olympic Flame/Black), and have the paint already, but am not certain about the correct pattern. I find lots of pictures, but most of these would presumably be for export bikes, since the vast majority were exported.

Does anyone know for sure if the paint pattern for domestic UK models was the same as for exports?

FWIW, this is from the Roy Bacon book, Triumph Daytona/T100.

Wow, guys, that was amazingly fast response. Thanks!

Paul--I should have thought of askling Don about this. He's the one I bought the paint from.

Seeker--I had looked at the Rask site--it's just the kind of detail I want, but they don't seem to include this particular model.

Rocky--Thanks for the photo. I bought this bike new in London, but had it painted 25 years ago and couln't remember what the original pattern looked like. When I looked at the photo you posted, it looked very familiar. It says all domestic and export models were the same, but I see a lot of pictures with a different pattern where the black starts at the top of the badges and curves back, like the second pic in Pauls second post.

Yes, I have too which only serves to confuse the issue.
Some books say the "scallop' you refer to curving back from the tank badge was for U.S. export models - but Roy Bacon says the "waist" panel is correct for UK and export. (??)
You will probably do better with the references the others have given.
Good luck TUP

Rocky--

From what I've been able to gather, "Export" was different from "US", and referred to exports everywhere except the US., So I'm thinking that the "waist" panel is correct for domestic UK, the "scallop" pattern was for US export, and who knows about the general export. All I know is in the hundreds of pics I've seen on the 'net, none of them have shown the "waist" pattern, but your picture confirms my fading memory. I think I actually like it better than the scallops anyway, so I probably go that way.

I think you're probably right. Your conclusions make sense.
Good luck with the project.

I think you've got it TUP
The 1970 T100R was also painted with that scheme, but different colours of course.
I have a colour picture in a book somewhere of the 1970, but I'll be darned if I can find it.
If I turn it up I'll post just for general information.
