My 2014 Honda came (unknown to me at the time) with one of those "good enough" Bridgestone front tires and it wore out in no time at all.
I was stunned that it wore out so fast as the rear Bridgestone is still on the bike with lots of life left in it.
On a Honda forum I later learned about these "good enough" tires as was explained in the video.
My 2003 Bonneville T100 came with one of those "good enough" Bridgestone front tires. It cupped in short order. I replaced it with a Metzler. I did not know about that scam either and blamed it on Bridgestone. In face, I have never bought another Bridgestone since then.
For over 20 years I've been using Bridgestone tires with good service so this revelation didn't sour me on the brand - especially after I learned about this bit of trickery.
Bridgestone's are readily available here at a decent price. The prices of some of the other brands are very high in comparison and I don't think I'm wanting using Bridgestone's.
I don't ride so hard these days that I need sticky rubber and the Bridgestone's serve me well enough.
Compared to the U.S., we pay a great deal more for just about everything.
My Tiger came with Metzler Tourance Nexts and the front is notorious for cupping and wearing fast. They're also THE noisiest tires I have ever ridden on. Can't wait for the spring when I change them out. Sad truth about manufacturers cheaping out on tires to save a dime. Auto manufacturers do this practice as well if others were not already aware.
