thanks, yes but a $3k option is a bit much for me. the bike cost plus a couple grand in accessories like bags, centerstand, skid plate, etc. would be my limit.
Put it on your wish list a year or two from now, or shop used wheels on eBay that can be swapped in. There's a guy on the Bobber forum that now rides a Bobton, the motor and wheels off a Thruxton in his Bobber's frame. If you don't mind spending the time and money, anything is possible.

At 60+ MPG 3.2 will get you 180+ miles.
yes but if you want to keep 1/2 gallon cushion that gives you maybe 162 miles. NV and East CA are pretty empty with sparse cell service. makes for great riding but you need to plan carefully and know where stations are and that they are operational. sometimes you just want to turn down some road where the sign says 'such and such' 40 miles my strom has 5.3g and my DR has an aftermarket 4.9g. maybe the speed twin/t100 aren't for my riding environment. they are cool though!

Good fuel planning needed on Hwy 50 and the roads through middle of nowhere NV.
395 sure is a scenic ride, I've ridden the entire length.
yup. I have a couple local favorites if you are out this way. hwy 120 between benton & lee vinning. 168 out of big pine going east.

I've done the 120. The only thing I dislike about Mesquite NV is the few choices of roads. I lived in Chico CA for 12 years and the NorCal riding offers so many choices. Almost every summer I'd encounter a group of Europeans mostly German on rented BMW's. To a person they stated NorCal is the best riding on earth.

well I guess north cal has pretty much everything. mountains, deserts, valleys, coasts.
