We have one of the stadiums being constructed just down the road from where I work. They are busy with maneuvers this week practicing emergency procedures. We have now had two choppers flying around in a slow holding pattern for two days. All day long you hear sirens as the do there rescue procedures. This must be costing a fortune to have all these services just doing there thing.

Do you think we will still have the 2010? What with the current Zuma stories etc. President in jail? Cosatu and ANCYL going crazy? I think Australia will host it.

We will host it and we will as usual do a fantastic job .I just hate the sport .I wanted to watch Le Mans this year and all I got on 5 sport chanels was football .GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Thank you our learned monkey! We WILL host it. Australia has NO chance at this last stage. The plan B is and always has been that in the event of some castrophe striking SA, it will go back to Germany because they were the last to have it and still have all the infrastructure etc in place.

BUT WE WILL HOST IT AND IT WILL BE A SUCCESS!!!!

Dave, just imagine if they didn't practise safety and emergency procedures and God forbid, a catastrophe occurred because we didn't have these procedures in place. Just imagine the littany of critism that the doomsday sayers could lament about ad nauseum ad nauseum ad nauseum!

On the upside, the knowledge gained by our locals in safety and emergency procedures will remain here in SA making all of us safer at large gatherings or events. Money well spent.

SA is bringing in the world's top experts in this field like the Safety & Security Directors from some of the biggest UK soccer clubs to give training and advise.

Top marks to SA for spending the money and taking these steps to ensure our safety! :y115:

Just trying a get a reaction out of people. I honestly hope we will host it because we host many international events and they are always a huge success, without any problems whatsoever. Just worried about the Pomie soccer hooligans - they don't stand a chance against our hordes. Don't want them to get hurt. :y31:
