Hi all, Just joined. I just went and picked up a 2007 Triumph America this weekend. It has been 20 years since I have ridden and it felt good to sit on a bike seat again.
I am looking at getting the bike ready to ship to Florida for bike week, anyone have recommendations on what I should be looking at having checked out on the bike?
I am def doing the basics, new tires, chain and sprockets, oil and filter spark plugs. My buddy thinks the clutch is loose so that too I guess. Anything I am missing???

Also, in addition to the above, I am not sure if I like the side stand stub to help let it down, just going around a corner on Saturday it felt like I scraped the ground with it. Don't want to be doing that at higher speeds later.

Thanks for any advice
Willy

WillyR: These old America/Speedys were pretty much bullet proof. I bought mine in 2012 after it had been sitting almost 3 years. Changed the spark plugs, added fresh fuel, changed the oil. It has not missed a beat since. Of course one of the first things I add to all my bikes is a battery tender. In the end, it is a lot cheaper than replacing batteries every couple of years. Enjoy...be safe. .J.D.

Thank you to David and Qship, I think this is going to be a lot of fun. I love the bike, I got a chance to ride it in New York when I went to pick it up.
Attached a picture just to show it...

Hello and welcome to TT from another Maritimer BBEER
Great looking bike TUP
Like Q, I have spent a lot of time in Maine on vacation and just passing through in the past 61 years.
The first time was in 1957 on a motorcycle heading to Boston.
I don't know anything about the America so can't comment on the sidestand issue.
